Pumpkin Squares [My Husband loves these!]

[I got the recipe from Paula Deen, Ya'll]

I made these as one of many desserts for Thanksgiving. My daddy and husband looooves them!
Except, I make them without the icing on top, they're delicious without it anyway.

Here's the Recipe:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 15-ounce can pumpkin
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  •

    Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Using an electric mixer at medium speed, combine the eggs, sugar, oil and pumpkin until light and fluffy. Stir together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and baking soda. Add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture and mix at low speed until thoroughly combined and the batter is smooth. Spread the batter into a greased 13 by 10-inch baking pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Let cool completely before frosting. Cut into bars. Super Easy!

Christmas Wreath for $12 bucks! [DIY PROJECT!]

[This idea came from Pearls, Handcuffs, and happy hour ]

Alright, I'm not much of a DIY type of girl, I mean.. I love them, but they don't always turn out as the other persons, baking...now that's another story! I loves to bake...
This project seemed pretty easy so I decided to try it out :) And I'm glad I did, I think my wreath turned out pretty good, if I should say so myself.

Ok, So if YOU want to try this out here's a step by step:

    Things You'll Need:
    ___________________________
    *Hot Glue Gun
    *Wire Clothes Hanger
*Ornaments from Dollar Tree (About 12 tubes of different shapes)
    *Ribbon

I started out with a wire clothes hanger, stretched it out into a circle (or close to a circle)
I think I did a pretty good job at trying, at least.

Now, I bought these ornaments at Dollar Tree. I bought 14 tubes in different sizes. I didn't, however, use them all. I really used 12 out of 14 tubes. This is the only thing you'll have to pay for. [unless you have some to spare and you can use those]

I started off by taking off the tops of the ornaments. Makes it soooo much more easier and soo much less time consuming.  So just take off the tops and separate them.

I then preceded to glue the top of the ornament (the hole part) and placed the tops back onto the ornaments and set them aside while I glued the other ornaments.
    **WORD TO THE WISE:
If you don't do this step, you'll have balls all over the place. And no one wants loose balls, now do we? ;)

After letting the glued ornaments have been put back together, start sliding them onto the clothes hanger, alternating between sizes and colors. Use the small sizes to fill in the gaps between the big ornaments.

I added a ribbon to it to make it an easy hang. This is the final product:

This is what my final product looked like., I think I did a pretty swell job.

And this is it on my door :)
I'm so proud of my wreath.

Where to get coupons, besides your Sunday paper?

Alright, before I start let me just say that I know some folks that are against
buying/ordering coupons on the internet from coupon clipping services.
    But this is my thoughts:

Not every city/state get the same coupons as the next city/state. Personally, where I live we have crappy coupons and I'm always having to go to Dollar Tree to buy my Sunday Papers for my coupons and the inserts are from a city 2 hours away from where I live and they get GREAT coupons. BUTTT, at times it's cheaper to just buy the certain coupons you know you'll use and need then buying the Sunday Paper, so I am one who orders coupons online, if you don't agree, please refrain from negative comments :)
Anywho back to what I was talking about. I'm one who, if the coupons are really really good coupons, I will buy anywhere from 16-30 Sunday Papers. Makes it around $16-$30 for that week. But I don't pay that EVERY week, cause not every week are there good coupons... But Anywho, If you were wondering where to go to buy coupons, these are the sites I use and think have pretty reasonable prices for their coupons.

    Pinterest... Your Ideas?

So I have pinterest and I must say... I am a Pinterest Addict!!

I love pinterest, but it also depresses me a little seeing these beautiful houses and their
decorations for Christmas...speaking of which, how many of you are ready?...
Anywho, So I saw this recipe and if you're anything like me, a Southern Girl who
loves fried Okra and Sweet Tea, you'll be happy to know I have found
a HEALTHIER version for fried okra. Well, it's more like Baked okra, but still delicious.
And the fact that I can consume these without having that "Why did I eat this" feeling, is
    A-MAZE-ING!

    So Here's the Recipe:

    Oven-Fried Okraadapted from family .com
    makes 7-1/2 C servings
    16 oz bag frozen sliced okra, thawed {about 3 1/2 cups}
1 tsp Cajun or creole seasoning
    1/2 tsp garlic salt
    1 C yellow corn meal
    Canola oil spray
    1 gallon zip lock bag

(Picture and Recipe credit to : Cookin' Cowgirl )

Alright, so you start out by preheating your oven to 425 Degrees.
You then, grab your Freezer bag and turn it inside out, Spray some Pam on the inside...

Turn the bag rightside in, pour in the Okra, pour in the cajun seasoning AND garlic salt...
    Shake, shake, shake!!
Let it rest  for about 10 mins.

Add the cornmeal, shake, let rest again for about another 10 minutes...
Strain/Sift the okra so that excess cornmeal gets knocked off...

Place foil onto your cookie sheet, spray with pam, place okra onto foil sheet.

Bake for...eh, 20 minutes, take out, flip okra, spray with pam and cook for roughly another 20 minutes.

    Let cool AND ENJOY!!!

I made this the other night.. and I'm PROUD to say I finished a whole bag... without the
"Why did I eat that" feeling.

A "WELCOME BACK" To Myself ... Thank You, Thank You..

Well, As Many of you DIDN'T know, I had to stop blogging
for a while, cause I had surgery then things go complicated,
BUT... I am back and this time with a little more than couponing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a die hard couponer, but I've been
trying other things as well since the operation.
Things such as, COOKING (Without burning the food), lots of
DIY's around the home, cleaning tips and such.

For some reason, I have been baking like crazy these past few months.
Which would explain my husbands 10 pound weight gain *shrugs shoulders*
So, I will share the tips and nips to what I'm into these days.
And IF you are interested you may follow along on this path of experimenting.

p.s--Please prepare your newfeed for some blow-up...

    Thank You.
