About Me :

Hi.

My name is Luissa. But mostly everyone calls me by my middle name "Nelly".
I am in my mid-20's married for, going on for, 4 years with the most amazing, sometimes pain in the arse, man I've met.
No kids, til date ... But still trying ;)

I, currently, work at a law firm and my husband is now a LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENT :), but it wasn't always milk and honey for us.

I was diagnosed with Dermoid cysts on BOTH of my ovaries. Since I had no medical insurance I had to wait til my husband's insurance renewed in order to get on his insurance to have them taken out. It was horrible. I had gained so much weight from the cysts and I had constant headaches, which usually last up to 2/3 weeks straight, I was having repeated dizzy spells and was just unable to work.
Then they changed my husbands check from every week, to every 2 weeks. We were spending around $200-$300 a week on groceries.

I knew I had to do something and I had to do it quick, we could no longer afford the lifestyle we were accustomed to when we first married.

I saw a show of "Extreme Couponing" back in 2010 and was amazed at how much one could save using that little, colored, paper money that discounted amount right at the register. The first show I saw, I watched it with my husband. We both dropped our jaws when we saw the amount those people would pay for $900 worth of groceries

(Granted, I didn't know, at the time, that some of those folks were doing fraudulent transactions)

I sat there, looked at my husband and said "I can do that", he thought I was crazy. I started researching and reading up on how to coupon, what each store policy was, where to get coupons, where to use them, etc. My first time I bought the newspaper, it contained 5 inserts, I bought 16 papers. That week I bought 16 FREE Ivory bar soap and a few free toothbrushes. I was pretty excited when I paid .50 for 16 bars of soaps.

The first time I received money back was from the Maruchan-BOGO sale at Publix. I Ordered 200 Soups and 200 coupons. I had bought groceries for that month and was still handed back $10. I felt like a champ and my husband was proud. We were able to give soups out to people we knew didn't have much.

From 2010 to 2013, I am glad to say...we spend probably around $200 a month on groceries and personal products. My husband is proud of me that I save him so much money and buy as much as I want. Every time we go out to dinner, shopping, whatever...he always asks "Do we have a coupon for this?"
